No fuss –Boiled Crabs
There are many ways to cook fresh crabs. One of the most common and fuss free ways is to boil them! This helps to retain their natural sweetness! Compliment these crabs by dipping them into your favourite sauces. See below for Dipping sauces.
This dish brings people together/ a help yourself dish as everyone uses their hands. Plus everyone will be complimenting on how nicely you have cooked the crabs and how sweet they are when you have just simply boiled them.
TIP: Keep crab liquid as stock for fish soups!
Serves: 3-4
Prep Time: 6-7 minutes
Cooking Time: 8- 10 minutes
Ingredients
8-10 crabs
1 litre hot Water
10 g peeled, sliced or bashed ginger
Dipping Sauces
3 tablespoons light soy sauce, 1 tablespoon lemon juice.
Or
3 tablespoons light soy sauce, 1 tablespoon lemon juice and 2 red Thai chillies.
Or
3 tablespoons light soy sauce and a handful of finely chopped coriander or parsley.
Methods
• Wash and scrub the crabs under cold running water.
• Bring a pot of hot water to boil on a high heat setting. Add in slices of ginger along with the crabs, with the lid on, boil for 8-10 minutes until they turn orange/ red colour. Drain into a colander and plate with your chosen dipping sauce.
