Firm favorites with many Canto households. This is how I cook king Prawns, recipe passed down from grandma. Grandma little secret, its addictive!

Ingredients
For the prawns & noodles:
- 6-7 king prawns, peeled & deveined
- 1 pack dried vermicelli noodles
- 1 tbsp light soy sauce (for marinating)
- Optional: chopped spring onion or coriander
For the garlic dipping sauce:
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3–4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp sugar
Instructions
1. Prep the vermicelli
- Place dried vermicelli into a bowl.
- Pour over boiling water and soak for 3–5 mins until softened.
- Drain, rinse and set aside.

2. Make the garlic dipping sauce
- In a small pan, heat 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil on low heat.
- Add chopped garlic and let it slightly brown gently — golden, not burnt.
- Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
- Once cooled, add:
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (second tablespoon)
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- Mix well and set aside.

3. Marinate & steam the prawns
- Lay the prawns on a plate for steaming, marinate the king prawns with the marinade.
- Bring your steamer water to a boil.
- Once the water is hot, place the marinated prawns on a heatproof plate and into the steamer.
- Steam on high heat for 7 minutes until the prawns turn pink and juicy.

4. The sizzling finish
- Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a small pan until hot.
- Carefully pour the hot oil directly over the steamed prawns —
letting everything sizzle into aromatic, fragrant of yummiest!
5. Serve
- Lay the steamed prawns over the vermicelli noodles.
- Garnish with spring onion or coriander if you like.
