Lemon Barley Cleansing Drink 柠 檬 薏 米 水
This is a drink that customers usually orders at cafes and restaurants in Hong Kong. To get rid of the old, the congestion and build-up of waste in your colon! In with the new food`s and nutrient`s for the body.
The barley with lemon aids digestion and act as a detox for a colon cleanse. Best to drink it hot and by boiling over a medium/low heat to help extracts the natural sweetness and its beneficial properties from the barley.
You can add a spoonful or two of honey when you consume this drink. I usually drink and then eat all the barley at the bottom of my cup.
Prep Time: 2 minutes
Cooking Time: 40 minutes
2 litres water
120 grams pearl barley
4-5 lemon slices
Optional extras:- 1 to 2 teaspoon clear honey before serving.
• Wash, rinse barley 5-6 times under cold water until the cloudy water turns clear.
• Bring water to boil, once hot, add barley, stir and simmer on a medium/low heat for 40 minutes. Partially cover with a lid.
• Add slices of lemon into the glass or cup, with a teaspoon disperse lemon fragments into the liquid. Serve either hot or at room temperature.
